I’d loved ‘Generator’ for quite some time so I decided to indulge myself in a bit of a Hollaways splurge. I was at first a bit hasty in my decision to like the album as it is a bit of a grower, but after a few plays I was convinced that it was worth every penny. You definitely need to take in the lyrics and listen a fair few times before you’re dancing around your room and moshing in the front row of a sweaty Hollaways gig. I thought it may be a one track wonder scenario as ‘Generator’ was such a hit, but there’s many many top songs on there (I sincerely struggle to find a song I dislike). Kicking off with ‘So This is great Britain?’ a big fat political dig at the state of Great Britannia: The media, STI’s and not forgetting our intimate relationship with the USA, we’re off to a great start. And what follows does not stray far from the satirical, ironic jibes at our society we have seen here at numero uno. I’m a big fan of ‘Malcontented one’ A cute little number about not fitting in. Oh and ‘What’s the difference’ Is great too. I think it’s the harmonious choruses that really do it for me with the Holloway’s songs- they’re just so catchy. I am also pleased to find that there’s a very refreshing absence of the love subject on this album- the nearest we get are flings with girls who are ‘fit for a fortnight’. So? This is Great Music. All in all I’m completely won over by this critical little masterpiece.
